METALMAQ manufactures 12 special dies with a “vee” of 140m/m at 78º, in lengths of 508 m/m, for a press brake LVD of 320 tons and 6 meters length.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR CLIENT

Our client, located in the north of Spain, is a leader in the manufacture of large-scale metal structures and public works. He wanted to manufacture new iron profiles (with a resistance of about 45Kg/mm2) with a thickness of 10 m/m up to 6 meters in length and other profiles with a thickness of 12 m/m and up to 4 meters in length.

THE DESIGN OF THE DIES

According to what the client wanted and calculating the necessary Vs (seeing the BENDING TABLES) we see that for metal sheet of 10 m/m with a V of 140 m/m there are needed 44 Ton per meter, therefore in 6 meters (44 x 6 = 264) it will take 264 Tons in total.

To bend the 12 m/m metal sheet in a V of 140 m/m it will take 66 Tons per meter, therefore in 4 meters (66 x 4 = 264) it will also take 264 Tons in total.

As the press brake LVD of our client has 320 Tons in the six meters, it is concluded that this type of special dies will go very well to do the described jobs.

As you can see in the photos, the lower mooring is LVD type, that is to say, with a mooring of 12,7 m/m width by 19 m/m length. It is an exclusive die mooring of press brake branded LVD.

It can also be seen in the photos above that the dies were supplied with M16 holes on the two sides of the dies. These holes are important to facilitate the assembly operation of the dies in the press brake and thus contribute to the safety when changing tools.

THE MANUFACTURING

The dies have been manufactured in sections of 508 m/m length, a total of 12 units have been produced to reach the 6 meters length of the press brake.

They have been manufactured in 42CrMo4 steel tempered in the work areas, to avoid wear and to prolong their useful life and finally they were rectified.

RESULT

The result is 12 dies of 508 m/m length, with a weight per section of 65 Kg and therefore with a total weight of the dies of 780 Kg.

In the photo below you can see the die with its LVD mooring, its M16 drill and ready to start producing 10 and 12 m/m thick pieces.
