METALMAQ manufactures a special tool for paneling rod in press brake with the aim of not having vertical movement of the rod.

THE PROBLEM OF THE PIECE

Our client is a manufacturer of paddle tennis courts (a very successful sport in Spain) and wanted to use electro-welded rod mesh with a diameter of 4 m/m as the enclosure for the paddle tennis court.

The handicap of our client is that he has a 24-hour bending machine manufacturing this type of enclosure and he needed a tool that would bend flat, that is, that the operators did not have to raise their arms to accompany the metal sheet, as happens in all the hydraulic bending machines in the market.

THE SOLUTION

Our Technical Office designed a tool with a Promecam mooring system (or European mooring) that bends the mesh flat, that is, when lowering the same tool, it made the “wing” that the client wanted, but without the mesh moving from its horizontal position.

In the photos above you can see how the upper part of the punch is provided with a clamp, so that when the piece is bended, it guarantees that the electro-welded mesh does not move.

In the photo it can also be seen how the upper part is guided to the lower part to keep the perpendicularity at the moment of bending. Another interesting detail is the small “hole” to house a part of the rod inside.

How is the electro welded mesh bended?

As you can see in the photos below, once the electro-welded mesh is bended, it is perfectly at 90º. And you can also see in the first photograph the housing for the rod to be housed inside.

THE MANUFACTURING

The tools have been manufactured in our usual C-50 steel, hardened by induction in the work and grinding areas.

3 sections of 1.050 m/m have been manufactured, in order to bend electro-welded rod in a horizontal position up to 3 meters in length.

In the upper photos you can see the three upper sections and the three lower sections ready to be packed and sent to our client so that the production and the padel courts begin to be assembled all over the world.

RESULT

In the following video you can see the tool in full operation in our MEBUSA test press brake, understanding how it bends the electro-welded mesh without leaving its horizontal position and you can also see the optimal result of the final piece.
