MRA100-2 dies equipment for Trumpf press brake

METALMAQ, S.A. delivered this month a very complete MRA 100-2 die for a customer from the province of Girona (Spain), who wanted to adapt to his TRUMPF press brake of 4-meters. This client is recognized worldwide for being a great manufacturer of machinery for the pharmaceutical industry, therefore he works a lot of INOX of 2 and 3m/m of thickness. Our MRA die is also popularly known as the WING BEND die.

The client presented us with a series of pieces that he had to carry out for a new production of machinery and the difficulty came in some pieces that had to be made in INOX of 3m/m, because of its design and because of having drills near the bending area, it was deformed when folding the sheet in his press brake Trumpf with the usual tools.

After the pertinent study, our Technical Office proposed to acquire the MRA 100-2 dies, to leave the perfect bends, even with drills near the bending zone. Given the important investment our commercial-technical moved to the facilities of our customer and made a demonstration “in situ” with some pieces of the customer and a MRA 100-2 die that we have for that purpose. Once the demonstration done and after the astonishment to see how this die worked and the approval by the Quality department of how the piece was bended with the new die, the order was formalized.

What makes the MRA die (Wing Bend) special?

It is a patented bending system, which works from two half circumferences and a series of springs. What it gets is that when bending the metal sheet the circumferences get turning and there lies the great difference with the usual dies, the sheet with this system always works flat, therefore scratches are avoided (that is to say absence of folding marks) and above all, the deformation of holes or “windows” near the bending zone is avoided. The only condition for not deforming is that they are in the flat part of the piece.

Easy answer: the lack of knowledge

There are operators with many years of experience, but they have always bended the sheet in the same way, this NEW system produces some distrust … until a demonstration is made and the evidence of the advantages convince by themselves.
