METALMAQ manufactures 4 meters of special punches with mooring BYSTRONIC-Beyeler for a company located in ESTONIA dedicated to the production of large metal structures.
THE CUSTOMER’S PROBLEM
Our client, to whom we already had manufactured some press brake tools in previous years, tells us now that he must make new “U” pieces that he cannot make with the punches he currently has.
The client sends us the plans of all the “U” and their lengths, with a metal sheet thickness of 8 m / m in iron. Our customer has a press brake Bystronic-BEYELER with mooring RF-A.
As you can see in the sketch, with the designed punch you can make all the “U” you need. There is even one of small length that, in order not to make a larger punch, we have made a small entrance in the central part of one of the punches.
THE DESIGN OF THE PUNCHES
Once the client accepts the design, we start the production. The punches must have the following characteristics;
– Upper mooring with mooring BYSTRONIC-Beyeler type RF-A, since the press brake is so configured
– Total height of the punch of 324 m/m and with a total width of 120 m/m
– 8 sections of 512,5 m/m, to achieve the total length of 4.100 m/m, this length allows them to be manageable so that they can be installed more easily on the press brake
– Angle of 85º to have a little margin for the elastic return of the metal sheet
– 8 m/m radius at the tip. This is important so that the durability of the punch is long and is not over-punished when bending heavy metal sheet

In the first photograph you can see that we have put a punch mod. 10.10/88º (the most sold in standard tools) to be able to have a little comparison of the size of the special punches manufactured and thus be able to appreciate their large size.
THE PRODCUTION
The punches have been manufactured in 42CrMo4 steel tempered in the working areas, to avoid premature wear and thus prolong the useful life of these, finally they were rectified. It has been decided to use this type of steel to ensure that its resistance to bend the 8 m/m metal sheets is the most appropriate.
In the image below you can see the 8 punches in sections of 512,5 m/m that have been manufactured.
RESULT
The result is another satisfied customer with punches manufactured in total length of 4 meters and ready to manufacture extremely large “U” in metal sheet of 8 m/m.
