Special press brake tool 30.11, is the latest special tool manufactured by METALMAQ and delivered to a customer in Valencia (Spain). This customer specialises in the construction of metal enclosures for industrial buildings, hangars, containers and a wide variety of metal items.

The photos above show one of the sets of the special tooling before it is packed to be sent to our customer. You can also see the reference that we laser mark on one side, where we put our logo, the design number and the internal order number (the latter to see its traceability, steel supplier, hardening and all the data related to its manufacture).
These references are very important because if the customer, after several years, wants to add a tool, rectify them, make any type of modification or query, we can see the entire history of the tool and give an after-sales follow-up years after having served the tool.
CUSTOMER DEMAND
Special press brake tool 30.11. Our customer had to perform a large production of a 3-metre long part for a new project. Currently he was doing it with the press brake in 4 strokes, with the drawback of having to turn the piece over twice, and the process was a bit cumbersome because it was a 3 metre piece.
So the customer talked to us, and we designed a tool to make the 4 bends in a single stroke, significantly speeding up the manufacturing process in terms of time and effort.
The customer has an ERMAKSAN sheet metal press brake providing 175 tonnes and 3 metres long, with a Promecam type upper and lower clamping. As the sheet metal to be bent is 0.6 m/m thick galvanised iron, only 23 tonnes per metre will be needed, i.e. for 3 metres, 69 tonnes will be needed. Given that the customer’s press brake provides 175 tonnes, he will have no problem in bending it so that the silhouette of the profile is perfectly pressed.
THE SOLUTION
Over the years we have made many special tools, but before manufacturing the final tool we always make a small prototype to check that the dimensions of the bends and tolerances are met. Once the prototype is approved, we make the tool in the full dimensions requested by the customer. In this case, it was in 3 sections that are 1,030 m/m long, to cover a total length of 3,090 m/m.
The tool is equipped with the PROMECAM (or European system) clamping system at the top and also with the PROMECAM (or European system) clamping system at the bottom.
The tool has been manufactured in C-50 steel, with the working areas induction hardened (reaching hardnesses of 58 HRC, thus avoiding premature wear due to friction and extending the service life of the tool) and ground.

In the pictures above you can see the tool mounted on our MEBUSA sheet metal press brake for the final testing.
RESULT
Once the tool has been manufactured, the final test is carried out with the sheet metal samples sent to us by the customer. As can be seen in the picture below, the part is well shaped, flat, and complies with the measurements and tolerances requested by the customer.

In the following video you can see how the tool works and how the piece is perfectly bent.
